Exam Pattern
The selection is held in two stages. In the first stage, each State and Union Territory , on the basis of State Level Examination, recommends a given number of candidates to NCERT for the National level Examination . the State Level Text is normally held in October/November every year and consists of Mental Ability Text (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Text (SAT). The second stage comprises of the National Level Text ,which is followed by an interview for the successful candidates. the National Level Text also comprises of two parts i.e. MAT and SAT. both the papers are objective ,the first paper carries 100 questions and the second 25 questions each on biology, Physics, chemistry, Mathematics, History, Geography, Economics and Civics. The medium of examination is English or regional language. Almost double the number of candidates are called for the interview.
State level examination has two parts:
- Mental Ability Text (MAT)
- Scholastic Aptitude Text (SAT)
The States/UTs shall, however, be free to modify the content and the procedure for the first stage selection text for nominating the required number of candidates for the to be conducted by the NCERT.
